Classic 2D Snake Game

Snake is an action video game genre where the player controls the end of a lengthening line, commonly represented as a snake.

The player must prevent the snake from crashing into obstacles or itself, a task that becomes more challenging as the snake grows. This concept first appeared in the 1976 arcade game Blockade by Gremlin Industries, where the objective was to outlast the opponent. The idea later developed into a single-player format where the snake extends with each piece of food consumed, often depicted as apples or eggs. The game's simplicity and low technical demands have led to the creation of hundreds of versions across various platforms, many featuring the words snake or worm in their titles.
